Here's the Turkey crafts! It seems skirts were a common theme. Great minds think alike I guess.

Craft #1 - Turkey Dressing

When it comes to being a turkey, it's best to look good with your feathers on.

If you're radiant, terrific and even humble, chances are....you'll stick around till next year.

Now ruffle your ruffles, dress it up and show off your beauty.

Craft #2 -Turkey Table Topper

Gobble, Gobble! For this week's craft, I made a tissue paper pom pom turkey to use as the centerpiece for the children's table at Thanksgiving dinner. Pass the sweet potatoes, and have a happy Thanksgiving!

Craft #3 - Mommy & Me Pillow Case Aprons

When I was given the theme “turkey” I immediately thought “cooking a turkey” which led to APRONS!!

This mommy and me apron set is made out of pillow cases. And perfect for cooking a turkey and making sure you stay clean underneath!

Not only that, but your little one will be able to be with you every step of the way!

With appliquéd flowers, (made out of a pillow case as well) and a cute tie to match, who wouldn’t feel so cute cooking her turkey!

Craft #4 - Ruffle Bustle Recycled T-Shirt Skirt

This fancy skirt was inspired by a plume of turkey feathers. I used pieces of old t-shirts to create a modern Victorian bustle underneath the back of this knit skirt. The result is a ruffled, flirty full skirt that every little girl would love to wear! The colors (maroon, red, purple, brown, charcoal/white stripes) and angles of the ruffled t-shirt pieces are just right to make this skirt a festive outfit for the Thanksgiving season. It was tested at our local playground and it was a huge hit.....especially when it was discovered that the full bustle creates a padded “seat” for the swings and slides!

Craft #5 - Wishbone Book

Rather than create a straightforward turkey design for this week's theme, I decided to take inspiration from one of our family's turkey day traditions--the wishbone.

This part of the turkey was anticipated by my brothers and I every Thanksgiving. As kids, we would fight over who got to break the wishbone, and the possibility that our wish (for candy or toys, usually) would come true.

Using the coptic stitch, I bound this book together and sewed on a felt cover complete with a wishbone and the simple word "wish."

When you open the book, the pages lay flat, making it ideal for sketching. This would be a perfect place to write and remember your wishes and dreams.

Craft #6 - Girls Gobble Gobble Dress

This dress is inspired by the turkey. The neck has three layers of fabric like the different layers of the turkey feather tail.

It has a cute little pocket made with a doily and a turkey silhouette on it. It's perfect to stash a little toy or treat during Thanksgiving.

It goes over a long sleeve shirt (as seen here) and a short sleeve shirt, or you could just leave it as is if you live in a warmer climate. It's a quick dress (or top) to make and is sure to make the little girl who wears it very thankful!

Craft #7 - Scalloped Turkey Skirt

This week's turkey theme stumped me a bit. I don't tend to decorate with turkeys. And I don't have clothing with turkeys on it. No turkey wall art. It was definitely challenging. I had an AHA moment with some fabric scraps. I used scraps to create turkey pockets for a little girl's scalloped skirt. Now I can't wait for Thanksgiving so my little girl can wear her turkey skirt! :)
